Lawson's Last Stand

Synopsis: Lawson, an Army Colonet's career is ruined by an idea he has in a battle simulation, and he is sent for phychiatric care. Unfortunately, he escapes, and heads for someone of his previous command, now a mechanic, Len Clarke. CI5 are called in by the army to locate Lawson before the Eastern Bloc countries do. Bodie and Doyle track him down - he is with Clarke and another ex-SAS man called Willis doing "silly exercises" near a golf course, and is pronounced insane and harmless by the pair. Lawson and his gang then rob a small local bank for funds for their operation, injuring a bank teller in the process. CI5 then take more of an interest in Lawson, especially when he executes phase 2 of his plan == he liberates munitions from an army camp, on the pretext of visiting an old friend. Cowley then works out what he is after - the real supply of the ficticious byt deadly nerve gas that his platoon were eliminated by in the excercises in Germany. Lawson leads a military attack on the plant that manufactures the gas, and steals two cannisters, each of which could kill many millions of people. Clarke is killed during the attiack. Lawson then sets himself up in Battersea Park with one of the cannisters, such that if he was killed, it would pull the pin on a hand-grenade attached to the cannister.
